Nissan Kicks BS6: All set to become more POWERFUL than Hyundai Creta & Kia Seltos
The BS6 update for the Nissan Kicks will come with a massive power and torque boost for the compact SUV. Picture this, the Kicks in BS6 trim will become more powerful than both the 2020 Hyundai Creta and the Kia Seltos thanks to a new 1.3 liter-4 cylinder turbocharged petrol engine. Peak power is rated at 153 Bhp while peak torque is a healthy 254 Nm. The 1.4 liter turbo petrol engine offered on the 2020 Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos makes 138 Bhp-242 Nm.
This new turbo petrol motor was shown at the 2020 Indian Auto Expo on the Renault Duster, which will also get the same engine shortly. The 1.3 liter turbo petrol engine will be paired with a CVT automatic gearbox, which should make the compact SUV a lot more convenient to drive in city traffic. The new engine-gearbox combination will be offered on the Kicks after the Corona Virus lockdown is lifted in India.
Rakesh Srivastava, Managing Director, Nissan Motor India, had this to say about the 2020 Kicks compact SUV
Launched last year, the Nissan Kicks has been a tepid seller right from the outset. The compact SUV was also offered with a 1.5 liter K9K turbocharged diesel engine with 108 Bhp-240 Nm. A 6 speed manual gearbox used to be standard with the diesel motor. Now though, both Renault and Nissan have discontinued diesel engines from their vehicles sold in India as the diesels are not Bharat Stage 6 (BS6) emission norms compliant. To replace the K9K diesel engine, both Renault and Nissan are bringing in the 1.3 liter turbo petrol motor, which has been on sale in their international variants for quite some time.
