ZR-V Compact SUV: Honda’s Hyundai Venue & Maruti Brezza rival

A few days ago, reports of Honda working on an all-new SUV surfaced online. Honda registered a new name – ZR-V that indicates the launch of a new SUV in the coming times. Honda has been using the R-V nomenclature on their crossover and SUVs for a long time now. It should be noted that Honda ZR-V name has been registered internationally and may not come to the Indian market. Here are new renderings that indicate what the all-new Honda ZR-V may look like when it gets launched in the Indian market. In India, the ZR-V is expected to rival the likes of the Maruti Brezza, Hyundai Venue and Ford EcoSport.

Details about the all-new ZR-V are not known yet but there are rumours that the vehicle will go against the likes of Toyota Raize, which is available in the international markets. Honda has registered the name in the Asia and Oceania region, which indicates that it will be launched in Australia and selected Asian countries. These are rendering images by Kleber Silva that are purely based on speculations.

Even though the “Z” is the last letter of the alphabet, it should be noted that Honda does not follow the incremental size changes depending on the position of the letter. It offers WR-V, which is much smaller in size than the CR-V. Honda also offers HR-V in the international markets and it was expected to be launched in the Indian market too. Honda launched an India-spec R-V model – the BR-V, which has now been discontinued due to the low sales in the market. Honda has an array of R-V models that are sold in the international markets.

Honda is working on a few models that will be launched in the Indian market in the coming times. Currently, the fifth-generation Honda City is due to be launched in the market. The car was scheduled to be launched in April but due to the COVID-19 lockdown, the launch has been delayed. The all-new fifth-generation Honda City will be sold alongside the current-generation Honda City in the Indian market. Honda is also working on two SUVs for the Indian market that will be launched in the coming times. The first vehicle will be a sub-4m SUV that will take the likes of Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon and the likes. Honda will soon launch the BS6 version of the WR-V in the Indian market, which is in the same segment but will be more value-for-money and will be positioned lower than the current SUV. The second SUV for the Indian market will Indian-spec Honda HR-V that will be launched to take on the likes of Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and the likes.
