PM Modi’s car convoy is more EXPENSIVE than Ambani’s [Video]

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the most important person in Indian democracy. Holding the highest position in the Indian government the prime minister receives a lot of threats. To keep the prime minister safe, a lot of protocols are followed and since he has to travel to different parts of the world. Prime Minister Modi’s security cover is provided by Special Protection Group (SPG), who is one of the most trained security personnel in India. Well, which are the cars that make the safety of prime minister Modi possible and keep him safe? Here are three convoys that Prime Minister regularly use. Each of these convoys cost around Rs 25 crore and we have not included the cars used by the state police. These are the modest figures that you will see since we are not sure if all the cars in the convoy are armoured. If you need a comparison, India’s richest man, Mukesh Ambani’s convoy has cars worth Rs 14 crores. Here are the details of the convoy of Narendra Modi.

BMW 7-Series Hi-Security Convoy

Approximate cost: Rs 24.5 crores

When Narendra Modi became prime minister of India in 2014, he shifted from his armoured Mahindra Scorpio to the official BMW 7-Series Hi-Security. The BMW 7-Series Hi-Security comes with factory-fitted armour and depending on the level of armour, it can cost several crores. The base price of the car is Rs 8 crore and there are two of them in the convoy because one car is used as a decoy. That costs Rs 16 crores. Guarding the 760Li Hi-Security are 7 BMW X5 4.8i SUVs that cost around Rs 90 lakh, and the total cost goes up to Rs 6.3 crores. We are not sure if the BMW X5 used in the convoys are Hi-Security, which can cost several crores.

There is a modified Mercedes-Benz Sprinter that costs around Rs 1 crore. The Sprinter carries tactical teams and important medical equipment. Then there are two modified Tata Safari which carries the electronic countermeasure system. These systems are used to jam radio signals that can be used to blow up bombs, it also deals with guided missiles and warns about incoming RPG, anti-tank missiles and laser-guided missiles. The Safaris cost about Rs 50 lakhs each excluding the equipment because they are bulletproof.

Land Rover Range Rover Sentinel Convoy

Approximate cost: Rs 23 crores

Off-late Prime Minister Modi has also started using the Land Rover Range Rover Sentinel SUVs. These are also factory-fitted armoured SUVs and each of them cost around Rs 6 crore. There are three Range Rover Sentinel SUVs in the Prime Minister Modi’s convoy and two of them are used as decoys. The total cost of them come out to be around Rs 18 crores. Guarding the Range Rover Sentinels are ten new-generation Toyota Fortuner SUVs that cost around Rs 3.5 crores. There are four Mahindra Scorpio SUVs that cost around Rs 40 lakhs and Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van that again costs Rs 1 crore. The total comes out to be around Rs 23 crores.

Toyota Land Cruiser Convoy

Approximate cost: Rs 14.5 crores

Narendra Modi mostly uses the Land Cruiser Convoy while travelling in India. It does not have a decoy car, which is why it is the cheapest convoy of all. Toyota does not officially offer an armoured vehicle like the Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Land Rover so the armouring has to be done from outside. Depending on the level of armour on the car, the Land Cruiser can cost up to Rs 8 crores. Then there are 6 Toyota Fortuner SUVs in the same convoy, which cost around Rs 2 crore. Further, there is a Land Rover Range Rover, a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter and Tata Safari SUVs, which again cost close to Rs 4.5 crore or more. In total, this convoy is the cheapest and yet the cars in it are worth Rs 14.5 crores at least.
