One of the popular car they have in their line up is the Elite i20 premium hatchback which competes with cars like Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Toyota Glanza, Honda Jazz and Tata Altroz in the segment. Hyundai has been working on a next-gen i20 for a while and last month studio images of the same got leaked on the internet. Now we have reports that explain what engine the upcoming Hyundai elite i20 will be getting and their specifications.

the new and updated Hyundai Elite i20 will be offered in two engine options.
A: 1.0 liter, three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine and a 1.5 litre diesel engine.
B: The 1.0 litre turbocharged unit is the same that we have seen in other Hyundai’s like Hyundai Venue, Grand i10 Nios and Hyundai Aura.

The 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine will be generating the same power as that of the Venue compact SUV. It will produce 120 PS and 172 Nm of peak torque. Coming to the gearbox options, Hyundai will be launching the new i20 in both manual and an automatic transmission. The Automatic is likely to be a DCT unit with the 1.0 litre turbo petrol engine that we have seen in the Venue before. The turbo petrol engine will additionally get a 6-speed manual gearbox. The other 1.2 litre petrol and the 1.5 litre diesel engine is likely to be offered with a manual transmission only.

Design wise, the new i20 looks quite promising, It has a sharp design at the front with a wide grille. Just like any other Hyundai, the i20 is also going to be a feature loaded car with touchscreen infotainment system, wireless charging, reverse parking sensors and camera’s along with BlueLink connected car features. Hyundai is likely to launch the updated Elite i20 by mid-2020. The car will rival the Maruti Baleno and Tata Altroz.
