Can the Hyundai Venue beat the Toyota Innova Crysta: This drag race will tell you

Hyundai Venue was launched in the Indian market last year and soon became one of the most popular sub-4 meter compact SUV in the segment. It competes with cars like Maruti Brezza, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300 and so on. Similarly one such popular car in the MPV segment is the Toyota Innova Crysta. Innova has been present in the market for over a decade and is known for its reliable engine, low service cost and a torquey diesel engine. Here we have a drag race between Hyundai Venue and Toyota Innova Crysta.

The video has been uploaded by Dream Cars on their youtube channel. Both Venue and Crysta belong to a different segment altogether and result of the race was something that many of you would have already guessed. Hyundai Venue used here is a 1.0 litre turbo petrol version and the Innova Crysta uses a 2.8 litre diesel engine.

The video starts by showing both Venue and Crysta parked on the shoulder of a highway and as soon as both the drivers get the signal they start accelerating. The race is conducted in two rounds. In the first round as soon as the race starts, Innova Crysta takes the lead and leaves the Hyundai Venue behind. The Venue can be seen pushing the Venue hard to overtake the Crysta that is ahead of it. But all the efforts are in vain as the Innova Crysta maintains the lead throughout the first round and wins it.

Toyota Innova Crysta Vs Hyundai Venue

In the second round the same thing repeats, the Innova Crysta is quicker off the line and Hyundai Venue starts chasing it. This time however the gap between both the cars is comparatively less in comparison to the first round. The second round is also won by the Innova Crysta.

Why did that happen?. Well, straightaway the first factor that was in favour of the Crysta is the power. The version used in the video is the 2.8 litre diesel engine that produces 171 Bhp and 360 Nm of peak torque. The Venue on the other hand has a 1.0 litre, 3-cylinder engine producing 118 bhp and 172 Nm of torque. The power delivery on the Venue is quite linear due to which it could not get off the line as quickly as the Crysta even after being the lighter car. The combination of power and torque at the low end helped Innova Crysta move off the line and win the race.
