Hyundai venue gets a more powerful BS6 diesel engine: Details out
Hyundai Venue is one of the most popular sub-4 meter compact SUV in the segment. It was launched in India last year and quickly became popular among buyers because of the looks and features it offered. It currently competes with cars like Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300 and Ford EcoSport in the segment. Hyundai venue is available in a variety of engine options. Hyundai has started updating their line up with BS6 engines and the Venue compact SUV has also received the same update now. Hyundai Venue now gets a more powerful diesel engine which is now BS6 compliant.
BS6 emission norms will be implemented in the country from 1st April 2020. Hyundai has now silently launched the Venue compact SUV in the market with a 1.5 litre turbo diesel engine that replaces the older 1.4 litre diesel unit. The engine is the same that we have seen in Kia Seltos. The 1.5 litre turbocharged diesel engine generates 100 Ps and 240 Nm of peak torque and is mated to a 6-speed transmission.
With the addition of 1.5 litre diesel engine the Hyundai Venue is now more powerful than before. It now produces 10 Ps more and 20 Nm of more torque in comparison to the older 1.4 litre BS4 diesel unit. Hyundai has decided to discontinue to the 1.4 litre diesel engine and replace them with the 1.5 litre unit in all the vehicles that used it. Earlier, Hyundai had launched Elite i20 BS6 diesel with the same 1.5 litre unit replacing the 1.4 litre unit.
Apart from that Hyundai will continue to get the same set of petrol engines. The 1.2 litre naturally aspirated petrol unit will continue to produce 83 PS and 113 Nm of torque and the 1.0 litre, three cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine will produce 120 PS and 172 Nm of torque. Only the 1.0 litre turbo petrol engine is available with a DCT automatic gearbox.
Apart from that there is no visible change or update in terms of design or the features offered in the Venue. It still remains one of the good looking, feature loaded SUV in the segment. With the BS6 update price of the diesel version has definitely gone up. The price difference in anything between Rs 30,000 to Rs 51,000 depending upon the trim. The prices for the diesel BS6 Hyundai Venue now starts at Rs 8.10 lakh, ex-showroom. The SUV is a hot seller, and will soon be challenged by the Kia Sonet, which is expected to make a debut in the second half of this year.
