Next-gen Triumph Street Triple RS launch on March 25

Triumph India is all set to launch the new Street Triple RS on March 25, 2020. The new Street Triple RS has been heavily updated over the previous and popular RS street naked. The changes have elevated the overall experience, as we discovered during our first ride review.

The design looks like an evolution of the previous RS model, which is made evident by the new LED tail-lamp with integrated DRLs that lends a dose of aggression to the face. Besides the new headlamps, Triumph has also changed the body panels, and everything – from the flyscreen above the headlamps to the side panels, rear unit, seat cowl, and belly pan – has been shaped to form a sportier-looking motorcycle.

The large TFT screen is the same as before; however, it gets a slew of updates that includes new graphics, Bluetooth connectivity and GoPro controls, enabled by an accessory chip.

The big change though, is the updated, 765cc, liquid-cooled, in-line triple engine that produces 123hp and 79Nm of torque (up by 2Nm from the previous model's 77Nm). Besides the increase in torque, the motor develops a stronger mid-range as well, which has improved tractability to quite an extent. Paired to a 6-speed gearbox with an up/down quickshifter, the new RS offers ballistic performance for a street naked.

Triumph continues to offer track-ready components such as Brembo M50 Monobloc calipers, a fully adjustable Showa fork and an Öhlins STX40 rear monoshock on the new generation of the Street Triple RS. The new model is shod with Pirelli’s latest-generation Supercorsa SP V3 tyres, again highlighting the bike’s track-readiness. As usual, the RS is packed to the gills with electronic rider aids such as ride modes and traction control. That said, it’s still surprising to see that the RS doesn't get IMU-assisted electronics. The company says that the addition of an IMU would have increased the price substantially.

Speaking of price, the current Triumph Street Triple RS is priced at Rs 11.13 lakh (ex-Delhi) and Triumph India plans to price the next-gen RS within the vicinity of this bracket.
