Volkswagen T-Roc compact SUV launched in India

Volkswagen India has launched its entry-level SUV, the T-Roc in the Indian market. The car was first showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo and it is the second SUV launch from the brand after the all-new Tiguan AllSpace was launched earlier this month. It is available in a single, fully-loaded variant that is priced at Rs 19.9 lakhs. The Volkswagen T-Roc has already become quite popular in India and has already gained more than 300 bookings. It is an introductory price, which means that prices will be revised once the vehicle becomes popular in the market.

The all-new Volkswagen T-Roc takes on the likes of Jeep Compass, Tata Harrier, MG Hector and more such cars in the market. Volkswagen is currently offering only a single engine with the T-Roc. It is the 1.5-litre turbocharged EVO petrol engine that produces a maximum power of 147 Bhp and 240 Nm. It gets a 7-speed DSG automatic transmission. The SUV can do 0-100 km/h in just 8.4 seconds and can reach a top speed of 205 km/h. The all-new T-Roc is built on MQB platform and the vehicle offers an advanced level of driving experience. It also gets selective cylinder deactivation that ensures a higher fuel efficiency too.

The T-Roc also offers a long list of features. Since it is a single variant option available in India, it gets a full-LED headlamp and tail lamps. The car also comes with dual-tone alloy wheels, front and rear parking sensors, and more. The cabin gets an all-digital instrument cluster, dual-zone automatic climate control system, an 8.0-inch infotainment system, a panoramic sunroof and Vienna leather seats. The T-Roc also offers six airbags, ABS with EBD, ESC, tyre pressure monitoring system and a rear parking camera. Also, features like ESP, Hill Start Assist, ASR, EDL and MSR will be available as standard fitment in the SUV. There will be a choice from six colour options available on the T-Roc.

This is the most affordable Volkswagen SUV in the Indian market right now. With the India 2.0 strategy, which is currently being led by Skoda, the Volkswagen Group plans to increase its market share in India. To do that, the manufacturer has planned to launch a slew of all-new cars in the Indian markets including a number of SUVs.
Since the T-Roc is a fully built imported SUV, the price tag compared to the Jeep Compass and Hyundai Tucson. However, it is only available in a single variant, which is fully loaded with features, which makes it about Rs 4 lakhs cheaper than the fully-loaded Jeep Compass. After the official launch, Volkswagen is expected to start the deliveries from today or later this week across India.
