Jeep Grand Compass 7-seater: New details out

Jeep India is working on a facelifted version of the Compass that is likely to be launched later this year. With the facelifted version, Jeep will also introduce the seven-seater version of the Compass in the Indian market that will take on the likes of Mahindra XUV500 and upcoming cars like the Tata Gravitas and the MG Hector Plus. While the launch of both the vehicles is still a few months away, the details are officially out in the Brazillian market. The Indian market is likely to get very similar updates.

The 7-seater Jeep Compass will be based on the facelifted version of the vehicle. It is known as the Jeep Grand Compass and a similar nomenclature is expected to be adopted in the Indian market. Apart from the cosmetic updates, the Jeep Grand Compass will look similar to the regular 5-seater version of the Compass. However, there will be a few changes. The Jeep Grand Compass will look different starting from the B-Pillar. It will get an additional window that will be helpful on the last row passengers.

The rear design of the Grand Compass will remain identical to the regular version of the car. It is also likely to be slightly longer than the regular Jeep Compass. With the seats folded down, the car will offer a massive boot capacity of 700 litres while with the all seats in the raised position, the capacity will come down to 110 litres.

The facelifted version of the Jeep Compass will get a set of new headlamps that add an aggressive look to the car. Also, there are changes done to the side of the vehicle. At the red, the car gets a new LED lamp and of course, it gets a new bumper too.

The cabin will also receive a slew of changes. Jeep will offer the latest and the all-new U-Connect infotainment system that is filled up with new features like Internet-connected features that can be used to track the vehicle too. The new Jeep Compass will go against the likes of Hyundai Tucson and higher-end variants of the Tata Harrier, MG Hector and the likes.

In the Indian market, the new Jeep Compass facelift will get powered by the same set of engines. It will get the 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine and a 2.0-litre diesel engine option. The car will also get automatic transmission options with both the engine options. The details like the exact launch time frame are not known but it is likely to be launched by the end of this year.
