Maruti S-Cross Petrol Hybrid launch details REVEALED
Just like other car manufacturers, India’s largest largest manufacturer Maruti Suzuki has also been updating their line up to meet the new BS6 emission norms. As part of BS6 transition, Maruti Suzuki completely dumped their diesel engines and now offer cars that run on petrol or CNG. They recently launched the petrol version of the Vitara Brezza and the next car to get the BS6 treatment is the S-Cross premium crossover. Maruti had showcased the petrol version of the S-Cross at the Auto Expo this year and will be launching it officially in the market next month. It will compete with cars like Renault Duster, Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta in the segment.
The S-Cross petrol version will be powered by the same set of engines that we have seen in the BS6 compliant Ciaz, Ertiga, XL6 and Vitara Brezza. The S-Cross will get the same litre petrol engine developed by Suzuki in-house. The engine will generate the same amount of power as in the other models that is 105 Bhp and 138 Nm of torque.
The earlier version of the S-Cross was only available with a 1.3 litre diesel engine paired with a manual transmission. The new updated BS6 petrol version of S-Cross is likely to offer a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed automatic transmission as an option. It will also be offering the Smart Hybrid system which helps by providing torque assist and increasing the fuel efficiency. The S-Cross BS6 in terms of design will not see any changes.
It will get the same premium looking chrome grille, muscular bumper with faux skid plates, projector type headlamps with elegant looking DRLs, alloy wheels and so on. On the inside, the car will get features like touchscreen infotainment system, multi function steering wheel, cruise control and so on.
With BS6 update and a petrol engine in engine place, Maruti Suzuki will be launching it likely at a price lower than that of the older diesel version. The launch of the BS6 Petrol S-Cross was supposed to happen earlier this month but due to the ongoing Corona virus pandemic situation, the launch got rescheduled. The S-Cross Petrol is Maruti’s most premium SUV/Crossover, and will be positioned above the recently launched Brezza Petrol. It’s meant for those seeking a stylish crossover with high ground clearance, high levels of refinement and convenience. Maruti will be hoping that women form a major chunk of buyers thanks to the new automatic gearbox option.
