Should you buy a IC engine car now or wait for an EV?

I’m planning to buy a Mahindra XUV 300 diesel. I would like to know if it’s a good time to buy an IC vehicle, as electric vehicles are just around the corner? Should I wait for a month or two and buy an EV instead? My budget is around Rs 10 lakh.

Ans - Electric cars are still far from becoming mainstream, and if it is your only car, you will be limited to driving in the city as there is no charging infrastructure on the highways. Also, you would need to have a charging point installed at your home or office to make using an EV practical in the first place. Even if you can meet all these criteria, for a budget of Rs 10 lakh, you will get cars like the eKUV100 and the Tigor EV, which come with basic 72V architecture that severely limits range and performance.
The XUV300 diesel has a strong and refined 1.5 diesel and is hence worth considering. Try and buy now and avail of good discounts of BS4 stocks, if they haven’t been sold out.
