Upcoming hatchbacks of 2020: Maruti WagonR XL5 to all-new Hyundai Elite i20

We are all aware of the current situation that our country is going through. The nationwide lockdown is meant to keep people from gathering at public places to break the spread of Corona virus pandemic. It is not just India but, many of the developed and developing countries are also doing the same thing. With this lockdown the country has come to a halt. Most of the offices, factories have suspended their operations. Same is the case with automobile industry too. most of the car manufacturers in the country have suspended operations in their facilities until the current situation improves. Once the conditions in the country improve we might see manufacturers coming up with new or updated models and here is the list of the same.


All-New Hyundai i20


Images of the upcoming Hyundai i20 have already been leaked on the internet and it is entirely different from the current version. The new-gen Hyundai i20 looks sharper, sportier than before and like any other Hyundai car will have a host of features inside. It will have connected car features, touchscreen infotainment system and so on. next gen i20 will be available with a 1.0 litre turbo petrol engine, 1.2 litre naturally aspirated petrol and a 1.5 litre diesel engine. Hyundai is likely to launch the the next-gen i20 by July this year.


Honda Jazz BS6


Honda will be launching the updated BS6 version of the Jazz premium hatchback in the market in next couple of months. look and design of the BS6 version is likely to remain more or less the same as that of the BS4 version. It will continue to get the 1.2 litre petrol and a 1.5 litre diesel engine. Petrol variant will be available with an optional CVT gearbox whereas the diesel will only have the manual gearbox.


Maruti Suzuki XL5


Maruti Suzuki is working on couple of models and one such hatchback that will be launching in the market soon is the XL5. It is basically a premium or more upmarket looking version of WagonR hatchback that will be sold via Nexa dealerships across the country. It is likely to get the same set on engines as that of the regular WagonR. Maruti is expected to launch XL5 during the festive season in November this year.


Hyundai Grand i10 Nios N-Line


Hyundai had launched a 1.0 litre turbo petrol version of the Nios with the BS6. By the end of this year, Hyundai might also bring in the N-Line version of the Nios which is also powered by the same engine. In comparison to the regular 1.0 litre Nios, the N-Line version of the car had red sporty inserts on bumper and at places. It also has a much wider redesigned front grille.
