Volkswagen T-Roc compact SUV in an Indian Youtuber’s first drive impressions [Video]

This year at the Auto Expo, Volkswagen group had participated and had showcased their existing and upcoming models. One such model was the T-Roc SUV. Volkswagen had officially launched the prices for this new entry-level SUV from the brand. T-Roc is only available in a single trim which is top-of the line feature loaded variant and it is priced at Rs 19.9 lakh, ex-showroom. Volkswagen has already received more than 300 bookings for the SUV and it competes with cars like Jeep Compass, Tata Harrier and MG Hector in the segment. We have not got a chance to drive the all-new T-Roc here in India but, here we have a video that shows an Indian Youtuber drivng it on the roads of Germany and telling how does the all-new T-Roc actually feels like.
The video has been uploaded by Gagan Choudhary on his Youtube channel. The video starts by showing the exterior of the German version of the car. From the outside pretty much everything remains the same as that of the one that will be sold in India. The German version comes with conventional headlight setup whereas the Indian version gets LED headlmaps, similarly the sensor for lane assist feature that is present in the International variant is missing in Indian version.
On the Inside, as this is an International version, the steering wheel is on the other side. The Indian version gets features like an all-digital instrument cluster, dual-zone automatic climate control system, an 8.0-inch infotainment system, a panoramic sunroof, leather seats, dual tone alloy wheels and front and rear parking sensors. On the safety front, it offers 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, ESC, tyre pressure monitoring system, a rear parking camera, ESP, Hill Start Assist, ASR, EDL and MSR is also available as standard equipment.

The T-Roc feels pretty solid to drive. The Youtuber was impressed with the power delivery of the new T-Roc the car easily touches the 200 kmph and even after that it had enough power in the reserve to go faster. The ride quality of the car is pretty good. It visibility is pretty good from the cabin and the handling is also not that bad. The Indian version is claimed to have a top-speed of 205 kmph and is powered by the same 1.5 litre turbo petrol engine generating 147 Bhp and 240 Nm of torque.
The car felt planted and the insulation inside the cabin is also great. The car even has good braking ability as seen in the video. The T-Roc manages to maintain a straight line with the help of all the electronic aids when brakes are applied completely at higher speeds. Overall, the Youtuber was pretty impressed with the performance, styling and quality of the new T-Roc. How this will perform in this highly competitive market we’ll get to see it in the coming months.
