Maruti to launch four all-new cars & SUVs in India: From Jimny to Alto

India’s largest car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki has resumed production at their Manesar facility and has also started market operations with limited dealerships. The manufacturer launched the new Vitara Brezza powered by the 1.5-litre petrol engine earlier this year and also introduced the facelifted version of the Dzire with a more powerful petrol engine. Maruti Suzuki plans to target a wider customer base with new products in the market. Here are four cars that the brand plans to launch in the next 12 months.

Maruti Suzuki Jimny

Maruti Suzuki officially showcased the Jimny at the 2020 Auto Expo to gauge the customer response and they did receive a huge response. Maruti Suzuki is now working on an Indian version of the Jimny, which will offer five-doors and will be longer than the international version of the car. It will be powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine and will get the 4X4 system with a low ratio transfer case. Maruti Suzuki is likely to launch the all-new Jimny by the end of this year or early next year. It will fill the void left by the Gypsy in the line-up.

The Celerio became a revolutionary car in the Indian market when it was launched a few years back. With the first AMT automatic transmission, the Celerio became quite popular. Maruti Suzuki is working to launch the all-new Celerio, which is codenamed as YNC. It will be based on a new platform but is likely to retain both the 1.0-litre K10B three-cylinder petrol engine. The Celerio will be updated with a new body and it will look quite futuristic.

Maruti Suzuki is currently offering only the Alto 800 in the Indian market. The manufacturer discontinued the Alto K10 but they are working to launch the fourth-generation of the model. Maruti Suzuki’s all-new Alto that will be based on a new platform and will offer new looks. The Alto is ageing and it is almost time for the brand to introduce an all-new version of the popular hatchback. The all-new Alto might get a new 800cc petrol engine and a more powerful 1.0-litre K10 engine.

Maruti Suzuki Vitara

The Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, which was updated earlier this year became the best-selling Utility Vehicle in the Indian market. However, the manufacturer is not present in the mid-size SUV segment that has vehicles like the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. Maruti Suzuki will introduce the all-new Vitara SUV that is already on sale in the international markets and will be launched in India after India-specific changes are done to the vehicle. It is likely to be launched by early 2021.
