MG Motor to sanitise 4,000 police vehicles in India to fight COVID-19

MG Motor has been in the news ever since the lockdown has started. They are trying their best by making contributions and providing services to the ones who are involved in Corona virus relief work. MG as a car brand made it’s entry into the Indian market last year with a mid-size SUV Hector. The Hector became popular among buyers in a very short span of time. MG Hector is a good looking, feature loaded premium SUV that competes with cars like Tata Harrier, Kia Seltos and recently launched Hyundai Creta in the segment. MG Motor has now announced that they will be sanitising up to 4,000 police vehicles across the country starting from 4th May 2020.

Under this initiative, MG Motors India will be undertaking complete car sanitisation including fumigation, car wash, cabin refresh and sanitisation of high touch points (Interior and Exterior) of Police vehicles. Fumigation is a technique where gases are released into the cabin of the car to disinfect the interiors including the corners which is otherwise hard to reach using bare hands. This technique also removes micro organsms and other particles in the cabin. This initiative has been started to ensure safety to the occupants in the police car. This is the first time that any manufacture in the country has come up with such a service.

Speaking on the initiative, Rajeev Chaba, President & Managing Director, MG Motor India, said “We understand the risks undertaken by the police department especially in these tough times. In our endeavour to support them, we are going the extra mile with fumigation of police cars, which ensures complete disinfection of the vehicle’s cabin. The fumigation process ensures that these frontline warriors do not have to wait for long as their vehicles get sanitised and prepared for the next trip.”

MG will be working with dealers across the country to sanitise police vehicles. MG Motors has been stressing on sanitising vehicles ever since the news of Corono virus outbreak had been announced. The manufacturer follows ‘Disinfect and Deliver’ procedure where it sanitises every vehicles before making the delivery to the customer. They had also tied up with Singapore-base Medklinn to sterilise car cabin. They had also donated ventilators and distributed Health and Hygiene Kits, PPE kits, Surgical Masks, Gloves, Sanitizers, Sanitizer Sprayers, Food and Ration Kits to combat the corona virus threat.

Once the situation in the country improves, MG will be launching, the 6-seater MG Hector which is known as Hector Plus. It will be placed above the 5-seater Hector and might offer some additional features too. It will be powered by the same set set of engines as MG Hector.
