Royal Enfield motorcycles to get bluetooth & navigation features

Royal Enfield has been a very popular brand in the country for a very long tome. It is popular for its retro styled modern motorcycle that have a cult following. Royal Enfield has been manufacturing number of motorcycles like Bullet, Classic, Himalayan and 650 twins for Indian as well as export market. Royal Enfield is now planing to offer a new feature in some of their motorcycles. The manufacturer is now working on a new instrument cluster for its motorcycle that will support features like Bluetooth and navigation in it.

According to team Bhp, Royal Enfield will be offering Bluetooth and navigation supporting instrument clusters in some of their models. This feature is likely to be offered in couple of future models from the brand. This is not a segment first feature as manufacturers like TVS and Hero already have this feature offered on their scooters and motorcycles.

This also opens up the possibility that future Royal Enfield motorcycles will probably have a digital LED screen in order to show information regarding the navigation and so on. According to the report, some motorcycles will also have smartphone connectivity feature using which the riders can easily fetch ride data. It is not known whether all the motorcycles in Royal Enfield range would be getting this feature in future or not.

As of now, the first motorcycle that is likely to get this feature is the upcoming Meteor 350 cruiser motorcycle. The Meteor is likely to be offered as a replacement for Thunderbird X in the market and is likely to be priced slightly above Thunderbird. Last month details of the upcoming Meteor cruiser got leaked online and it is expected to be priced at Rs 1.68 lakh, ex-showroom.

Along with the Bluetooth and navigation feature, it will have couple of features like a circular LED DRL around the headlamp, low seating position, all black alloy wheels, double-cradle chassis, Dual Channel ABS and a BS6 compliant engine. The engine specification of the Meteor is not available as of now but what we know is that Royal Enfield will introduce a brand new engine platform on the new motorcycle, which will serve as a template for a range of other retro bikes from the brand. Royal Enfield is likely to be launch the new Meteor 350 cruiser motorcycle in India later this year. The Meteor is meant to replace the Thunderbird in India, and be a new entry-level motorcycle for the brand for markets abroad.
