Tata Motors resumes deliveries of Nexon electric SUV post lockdown relaxation

Electric vehicles (EV) are gaining popularity in the market. More and more automakers are now getting into the EV space to meet the growing demand. Many mainstream manufacturers like Hyundai, MG and Tata Motors have already launched their EVs in India. Many others such as Maruti and Kia are working on their electric vehicle models, due for launch in the coming months or years. Tata Motors launched their first fully electric SUV – the Nexon EV – in the beginning of this year. The Nexon Electric is the cheapest electric SUV one can buy in the country. Due to the lockdown and pandemic situation, Tata Motors’ dealerships and manufacturing units were all shut and not able to deliver vehicles to customers. Now, as the lockdown has been partially lifted, dealerships have started operating and they have begun delivery of the Nexon EV to customers. Here are some pictures.

Tata Motors had shared images of its customers taking delivery of their brand new Nexon EV from dealerships. They have currently delivered Nexon EV to customers via dealerships in Chennai, Ahmedabad and Bangalore. It is specifically mentioned in the post that all precautions were taken by the staff and the customers during vehicle delivery.

Tata Motors’ dealerships have resumed the delivery of Nexon EV as per booking priority. Also, deliveries are happening only in those dealerships situated in green zones. Customers are contacted personally once their Nexon EV is ready to be delivered. The EV is a fully electric version of the regular compact SUV which is one of the safest car in its segment. The electric blue accents differentiate the Nexon EV from the regular petrol/diesel versions from the outside.

The Tata Nexon EV uses Ziptron technology and gets its power from a 30.2 Kwh high capacity lithium-ion battery. The permanent magnet motor at the front is capable of generating a maximum of 129 Ps and 245 Nm of peak torque. The electric SUV has an ARAI certified range of 312 kms on a single charge but, in real world conditions we expect the car to return around 200-250 kms on a full charge. It supports fast charging and takes around 60 mins to charge 80 percent using a DC charger whereas the AC charger takes around 8 hours.

The EV is available in three trims of XM, XZ+ and XZ+ Lux and is priced at Rs 13.99 lakh, Rs 14.99 lakh and 15.99 lakh respectively. Just like regular Nexon, the electric version offers all key features such as sunroof, rear AC vents, leatherette seats, touchscreen infotainment screen depending up on the trim chosen.
