2020 Honda Africa Twin Adventure Sports deliveries commence in India

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India has commenced deliveries of the all-new CRF 1100L Africa Twin Adventure Sports in India. The keys to the first unit of Honda's new adventure-tourer were handed over to a customer at the Honda Big Wing dealership in Gurugram. Deliveries of the new Honda Africa Twin were supposed to begin in May 2020. However, the COVID-19 pandemic and the national lockdown that followed led to delays.

The new Africa Twin was launched in March 2020 at Rs 15.35 lakh for the manual transmission variant. The DCT variant is priced at Rs 16.10 lakh. 

The motorcycle is powered by a 1,084cc parallel twin engine that develops 102hp at 7,500rpm and 105Nm of torque at 6,250rpm, a big jump from the previous-generation Africa Twin's 89hp/93.1Nm.

The list of electronic tech available with the 2020 Africa Twin includes a six-axis inertial measurement unit (IMU), wheelie control, cornering ABS, rear-lift control, DCT cornering detection and cornering lights. The new 6.5-inch TFT instrument cluster is compatible with Apple CarPlay. 

The Africa Twin also gets cruise control as standard. The Adventure Sports model offers additional features like tubeless wheels, a charging socket, a larger skid plate, an aluminium rear rack and a 24.8-litre fuel tank.

The 2020 Africa Twin Adventure Sports goes up against the newly launched Triumph Tiger 900 Rally (Rs 14.35 lakh) and Tiger 900 Rally Pro (Rs 15.5 lakh). Here’s how the two adventure tourers compare on paper.
