This Rs 1,700 hike is the BS6 Access’ second since its launch in January 2020

High input costs being transferred to the customer
Suzuki Motorcycle India has just announced price hikes for the BS6 Access 125 and the Burgman Street 125. Prices of the Suzuki Access have gone up by Rs 1,700 while the Burgman is dearer by Rs 1,800.
The major talking point here is that this is the second time that Suzuki Access 125 prices have increased since the BS6 model was launched in January 2020, at Rs 64,800. At that time, the difference between the BS4 and BS6 Access 125 was around Rs 6,500. A month ago, Suzuki hiked the price by Rs 2,300 and now, it has gone up by an additional Rs 1,700. That takes the total price difference between the BS4 and BS6 Access 125 to a little over Rs 10,000.
Suzuki may have chosen to spread the price hike over a few months so as not to burden customers and dealerships. But, as is apparent, the input cost of manufacturing a BS6 scooter is high.
Along with the price hike to meet BS6 norms, Suzuki has introduced new features to sweeten the deal. The BS6 Suzuki Access 125, for instance, features a silent start system, revised instrument cluster, LED headlamp and an external fuel filler cap. Both, the Access 125 and the Burgman Street 125, share the same fuel-injected, single-cylinder engine that produces 8.7hp at 6,750rpm and 10Nm at 5,500rpm. While the Burgaman is available in one variant only, the Access 125 is available in a total of five, including a Special Edition trim.
