Citroen to launch 4 new SUVs in India: Details
French car manufacturer Citroen has been planning plan to enter the Indian market for quite some time. They have lot of plans for the Indian market and their first product will be the C5 Aircross SUV. It was supposed to make its debut in the market this year but the plans got delayed because of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic situation. Citroen is expected to launch the C5 Aircross in the first quarter of 2021. Citroen has confirmed that apart from C5 Aircross, they will be launching three more models in Indian market.
As mentioned above, Citroen has big plans for India as it is one of the fastest growing car market in the world. They have manufacturing facilities here in Hosur and Tiruvallur, and will be rolling out most of their upcoming models from this facility. Citroen had revealed that they have a C-Cube program under which the brand plans to launch a new vehicle every year till 2023. All the vehicles launched in the country during this time will be developed and manufactured here in India. India will also be the first market where these cars will be launched.
Currently we have information about two vehicles that Citroen will be launching. One of them is the Citroen C5 Aircoss and the other is a sub-4 meter compact SUV likely to known as Citroen C3 Sporty (codenamed C21). C5 Aircross is likely to be priced against Jeep Compass whereas the C3 will compete with cars like Maruti Brezza in the segment.

The other two vehicles are also likely to be SUVs as it is a popular segment in our market. Currently we have no information regarding the other two models but, it is expected that one of them is likely to be priced against Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos whereas the other one might be a luxury SUV competing against Toyota Fortuner or even Ford Endeavour.
The upcoming C5 Aircross will available with couple of diesel engine options only. There will be a 1.5 litre, 131 Bhp diesel engine and a 2.0 litre diesel engine that is capable of generating a maximum of 180 Bhp. The car is expected to be available with an 8-speed automatic transmission. It’ll rival the likes of the Tata Harrier, Jeep Compass and the MG Hector in the 5 seat, mid-size SUV category.
