Honda Civic BS6 Diesel bookings open in India
Honda cars had plans to launch the next gen Honda City and update their existing models to meet BS6 emission norms. All their plans got delayed due to the ongoing pandemic situation. Honda had started accepting bookings for BS6 Honda Jazz, WR-V, petrol version of premium sedan Honda Civic and their flagship SUV CR-V. Now, Honda has officially opened booking for diesel version of Civic BS6 and deliveries for the same would start later next month. Honda Civic is a premium sedan that competes with cars like Hyundai Elantra in the segment.
There is no doubt that Honda Civic is one of the best looking sedans in the segment. Japanese manufacturer launched the tenth generation Honda Civic in Indian market last year. It has a sporty design on the outside with premium features on the inside. It gets LED headlamps, distinct looking tail lights, diamond cut alloy wheels, coupe like sloping roof and signature Honda grille at the front. It is entirely different from the older version that we had on sale in India.
On the inside, the car gets features like touchscreen infotainment that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, cruise control, plush interiors, push button start, remote engine start, dual zone climate control, multi-function steering wheel, 8-way electrically adjustable driver seat and so on.

The diesel version of the Honda Civic BS6 will be powered by the same old 1.6 litre, 4-cylinder diesel unit that generates 118 Bhp and 300 Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox only. It is not known whether Honda will launch the diesel version with an automatic transmission in its BS6 avatar. The petrol version of Honda Civic was already a BS6 compliant vehicle since its launch in the market last year. The petrol version is powered by a 1.8 litre, four cylinder, engine that generates 104 Ps and 174 Nm of torque. The petrol version comes with a CVT gearbox standard.
With manufacturers opening their dealerships post lockdown, Honda is likely to launch the BS6 version of Honda Jazz premium hatchback and WR-V in the market soon. WR-V facelift has already started reaching some of the dealerships across the country. Price for Honda Civic diesel started at Rs 20.5 lakh ex-showroom and the BS6 version of the sedan will definitely attract some price hike.
