Hyundai Alcazar: That’s what the 7 seat Creta could be named as

Hyundai launched the all-new Creta in the Indian market earlier this year and the mid-size SUV has already received a lot of bookings. For the first time, Hyundai is planning to enter the segment of Mahindra XUV500 in the Indian market with the launch of a seven-seater Creta. Hyundai has already started developing the new 7-seater Creta and has registered a new name, which is likely to be used by the upcoming version of the car. Here are the details.

According to MotorBeam, Hyundai has registered the name Alcazar on 13th April 2020. The leaked documents reveal that the name will be used in an upcoming Sports Utility Vehicle. The name has been registered in Delhi, India and it should be noted that Hyundai does not sell any vehicle under the Alcazar name in the international markets too. Since the 7-seater SUV will be launched in the coming months, Hyundai is likely to use the name with the upcoming 7-seater Creta.

The test mules are already on the roads in South Korea, where Hyundai headquarters are located. The seven-seater version of the Creta has also been spotted in India, indicating that the launch is not very far. Hyundai is expected to launch the all-new seven-seater version of the Creta in the Indian market in the coming months. In all likeliness, the car will be launched in early 2021.

The all-new seven-seater Creta or the Alcazar will take on the likes of Mahindra XUV500 and upcoming cars like the MG Hector Plus and the Tata Gravitas. It should be noted that Hyundai Tucson is similarly priced but it is a five-seater SUV.

The Alcazar will be based on the Creta, which is why both the cars will share a lot of features and looks. The seven-seater Alcazar will get a bigger grille at the front while the overall length of the vehicle will be longer than the Creta to accommodate the extra row of seat. Also, we may get to see new headlamps and tail lamps on the upcoming SUV. Even the cabin will get a few changes and it will be positioned as a premium vehicle in the segment.

Since it will be priced higher than Creta, we may get to see new additions like 360-degree parking camera, front parking sensors, and more such features that are not available with the Creta at the moment.

Engine-wise, we will get the same 1.5-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel that power the Creta. Depending on the demand, the 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine is also expected to be launched in the market.
