Hyundai Venue 1.5 BS6 Diesel: What it feels like to drive [Video]
Hyundai is India’s second largest car manufacturer and has many popular models in its lineup. One of the popular cars in the automaker’s lineup is the Venue compact SUV, which was launched in the market last year. It competes with cars such as the Maruti Brezza, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300 and Ford EcoSport in the sub-4 meter compact SUV segment. Hyundai recently updated the Venue SUV with a BS6 complaint engine and during this transition, they had dumped the old 1.4 litre diesel unit and replaced it with the 1.5 litre unit. Here we have a video that shows what the new 1.5 litre diesel engine feels like in the Hyundai Venue.
The video has been uploaded by The Car Guide – Rishabh Arora on his youtube channel. The video shows how this new engine performs in the Hyundai Venue. Design-wise, the BS6 version of Hyundai Venue has nothing new. It gets the same cascading grille, turn indicators on top and headlamps placed on the bumper with LED DRL wrapped around it. The vlogger is driving the SX variant which is comes equipped with almost all the features.

The main difference here is the 1.5 litre diesel engine that generates 100 Ps and 240 Nm of peak torque. The steering on the Venue is very light and comfortable for tackling city traffic. It has ample power but the major difference according to vlogger is that in the 1.4 litre engine, the engine felt punchier and the throttle response was instant. The 1.5 litre engine has a linear power delivery and the gear ratios have also been tweaked. The clutch is also very light and city friendly.
The 1.5 litre engine feels more refined and the ride quality is also great and the suspensions are tuned to be on the softer side. The cabin remains well insulated but, is not as great as seen in Creta or other expensive Hyundai models. The video also says that Hyundai Venue has claimed fuel efficiency of 23.4 kmpl and in real world conditions the car will return approximately 15-16 kmpl in city, 19-20 kmpl on highway and around 24-25 kmpl if you are cruising on highway.
Overall, the vlogger was impressed with performance of the Venue. The car felt more refined than the earlier version. Venue is also available with a 1.0 litre, 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine and a 1.2 litre naturally aspirated petrol engine. Only the turbo petrol unit gets a 7-speed DCT gearbox option. The 1.2 liter petrol engine gets a 5 speed manual gearbox.
