Mahindra XUV300 BEATS Hyundai Venue & Maruti Brezza

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused enormous loss to the automobile industry around the world. It has also affected the Indian market greatly and the manufacturers are slowly limping back to recovery. While the country was under a complete lockdown for a few weeks, manufacturers had to shut down the production completely. Last month, there was some movement in the industry and a few manufacturers also started their dealerships in the safe zones. Well, in the shuffle due to the deadly virus, the Mahindra XUV300 has now become the best-selling car in the segment outselling the vehicles like Hyundai Venue and Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza.

Mahindra Xuv300 Amt Tvc

According to the data released by SIAM, Mahindra sold 1,257 units of the XUV300, which is slightly more than the 1,242 units sold by Hyundai. The Tata Nexon is on the third position in the list with 623 units and Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza is at the fourth spot with 572 units. Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza saw the biggest YoY sales drop of 93.49%. The Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza received major changes earlier this year and for the first time, the sub-4m compact SUV now only offers the petrol engine. The Ford EcoSport is on the fifth spot with 331 units against its name and the Honda WRV is in the sixth spot with 114 units. The segment saw a massive drop of 87.05% last month compared to the same time last year.

It should be noted that these numbers are often seen as the units sold by the manufacturer but they are dispatch number. These are the units dispatched by the manufacturer to all the dealerships all across India. Due to the lockdown, automobile dealerships across India remained shut for a long period of time. Even the factories remained shut across India, which has caused a massive loss to the industry.

Maruti Brezza Facelift 1

The sub-4m compact SUV segment has seen rapid growth in recent times. Last year, two all-new cars – the Hyundai Venue and Mahindra XUV300 entered the segment to take on the existing cars. This year, Kia will launch the all-new Sonet, Nissan will launch the all-new Magnite and Renault also plans to launch the all-new Kiger in the same segment, which will heat up the competition.

The Mahindra XUV300 started on a strong note last year when the product was launched but then the sales settled down after the initial demand for the vehicle. With all-new launches later this year, it will be interesting to see how the segment turns out to be in the future.
