Meet the Toyota Qualis that’s been driven 8 lakh kms: Still going STRONG [Video]

Toyota Qualis was a very popular MPV from Japanese manufacturer that was launched back in 2000. It competed with cars like Mahindra Bolero and Tata Sumo in the segment. It was discontinued in 2004 and was replaced with Innova later on. As this was a very popular model, there are still many well kept examples of Qualis MPV in the country. Here we have a video that shows a Toyota Qualis that has done over 8 lakh kilometres on the odometer. The MPV is still going strong and is a daily use vehicle for its owner.

The  Qualis seen in the video is a model bought in 2000, and the owner was one of the first customers of a newly set up Nippon Toyota – a dealer in Kerala. This is the first generation Qualis and the owner who can be seen in the video has brought it almost 20 year ago. Even after so many year, the car has lost some of its shine and the paint has started to fade away in places. It is not one of the best examples that you will find in the country but almost everything in this vehicle still works which is huge accomplishment for a 20 year old vehicle.

Toyota is known for reliable engines and we have examples of Toyota Innova’s with over 2 lakh kilometres on odo. This Toyota Qualis however took thing to a whole new level when it comes to odometer readings. This Toyota Qualis has done over 8.22 lakh kilometers on the odometer with just regular maintenance which is a huge achievement.

Even after having couple of other vehicles, the owner still uses Toyota Qualis for his daily run because of the ride quality and the seating comfort. He even talks about the servicing and tells that all the servicing of the vehicle was done through an authorised service centre only. Even after doing eight plus lakh kilometers, it looks like the car has plenty of life in it. Overall, the owner of this Qualis is very impressed with the vehicle as well as the after sales service. Toyota Qualis was powered by a 2.4 litre diesel engine generating 75 Ps and 151 Nm of peak torque. There was a petrol engine also on offer. Both the diesel and petrol engines got a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard. The Qualis had capacity to seat up to 8-passengers.
