MG Hector Plus launch time revealed; Unofficial bookings open

MG launched the all-new Hector in the Indian market last year and its second car in the form of MG ZS EV in the Indian market. MG is now working to launch the all-new 6-seater Hector Plus in the Indian market. MG showcased the car at the 2020 Auto Expo and it was expected to be launched in April 2020. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the lockdown across the country changed that. MG is now planning to launch the Hector Plus in the coming months.

MG has scheduled the launch next month as per Times Now. However, the exact launch date is not known. After weeks of lockdown, restrictions in the safe zones are being lifted and the car manufacturers have started their assembly lines too. Many brands have even opened their dealerships across India and have started delivering the cars.

The MG Hector Plus will be available in two configurations – a six-seater and a seven-seater. It will take on the Toyota Innova Crysta directly but it will also compete with the like of Mahindra XUV500 in the market. This will be the brand’s third car in the Indian market and it looks very similar to the regular MG Hector that is available in the market. However, there are a few subtle changes that will allow you to differentiate between the two.

The upcoming Hector Plus gets a redesigned grille, a new front bumper, revised LED DRL design, tweaked tail lamp design and a newly redesigned boot lid. The car will be offered in the six-seater version, which has already been spotted testing on the roads. It gets two pilot seats in the middle row and a bench seat in the last row. MG may also launch the seven-seater version with a bench seat in the middle-row. However, that may come at a later date.

MG will power the car with the same set of petrol and diesel engine options that are available with the 5-seater Hector. There will be a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine that produces a maximum power of 141 Bhp and 250 Nm of peak torque. The 2.0-litre diesel engine will produce a maximum power of 168 Bhp of the maximum power of 350 Nm of peak torque. The petrol engine option will be available with a manual and an optional 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission while the diesel engine option will only get a manual transmission option.

The starting price is expected to be around Rs 13.5 lakhs, which will attract a lot of attention. A few MG dealerships have also started accepting unofficial bookings for the Hector Plus.
