According to Autocar India, Renault will be launching the SUV around October to make use of the festive season. The upcoming compact SUV will compete with cars like Maruti Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300 and Ford EcoSport in the segment. It is based on CMF A+ platform which is same platform used in Renault’s recently launched compact MPV Triber. Just like Triber, it is expected to offer decent amount of space on the inside.

The upcoming HBC SUV or Kiger will be a feature loaded SUV. It will offer features like touchscreen infotainment screen supporting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, steering mounted controls, automatic climate control and might also offer connected car features. Renault Kiger’s sibling Nissan Magnite is also based on the same platform and is expected to offer similar features when launched. Nissan has however delayed the launch of Magnite SUV and will be launching it early next year.

In terms of design, the upcoming Kiger SUV is likely to get a Triber-like front grille with Kwid-like headlights positioned on the lower part of the bumper. It will also get black claddings over the wheel arches and around the car. it might also have a faux skid plate and roof rail to give it a SUV stance.

The engine is the next important thing in upcoming Kiger SUV. It will be powered by the same 1.0 litre naturally aspirated engine which is seen in Triber. The Kiger is also expected to get a 1.0 litre, 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine which will generate a maximum of 95 Bhp. Kiger will get a 5-speed manual and a CVT gearbox option. The same engine will be available in Triber as well as Nissan Magnite at a later stage. The Kiger is expected to undercut the Hyundai Venue in terms of pricing, with a starting price of under Rs. 6 lakh.
