Skoda Octavia RS 245: First Indian video review of the high performance sedan

Skoda Auto India launched the all new Octavia RS 245 high performance sedan earlier this year. This is by far the most powerful Skoda Octavia vRS version ever sold in the country. Skoda recently started delivering the vRS to its customers and the first one was delivered to a customer in Goa. Only 200 units will be sold in India and guess what, all the units are already sold. We have seen several pictures of the new Octavia RS 245 in the past but here we have a video that gives a detailed review on what the car feels to drive on our roads.

The video has been uploaded by Petrobug on their youtube channel. The video starts by explaining what all is different in the new RS 245 in comparison to the older RS 230. The Octavia RS 245 gets black inserts on the signature grille, ORVMs and spoilers that give it a sporty look. The other major change is the 18 inch wheels and new alloy wheels with red calipers for added sporty appeal. The car used in the video is in black colour which gives it an aggressive look.

On the inside, just like any other vRS in the past, it has a black cabin with red stitching that goes well with the overall vRS theme of the car. It has a dedicated vRS button that alters the gear ratio and throttle response depending upon the mode chosen. Overall the fit and finish of the car is up to the mark and only negative that the host felt was the pricing part. In comparison to the older vRS, the RS 245 is expensive at an ex-showroom price of Rs 35.99 lakh.

The brakes are bigger than before and the suspension has been retuned. The engine is quite responsive and the 7-speed gearbox does not disappoint. Even at higher RPMs there is enough power in reserve. It easily pulls away and even has a fake exhaust noise in sport mode. The reviewer was quite impressed with the gearbox and said that it felt quite responsive.

The video says that even with the 18 inch wheels the ride quality is quite impressive and the suspension is well balanced for ride and handling. Overall, the anchor is impressed with the car and calls it a sensible practical family car that can seat four comfortably. The 2.0 litre turbocharged petrol engine is quite impressive and is capable of doing great speeds if given an open stretch of tarmac.
