Maruti 800 Electric car with Tesla features on Video: Makes more torque than a Fortuner
Maruti Suzuki 800 is a name that almost every enthusiast remembers in India. It is the car that changed that automobile scenario completely and dominated the market for a long time. Maruti Suzuki had to discontinue the sales of the 800 in India due to many reasons but there are still many who own a modified version of the car or very well kept example as a memory. Well, here is a Maruti Suzuki 800 that has been transformed to meet the future needs and to make the vehicle future-ready. This is a Maruti Suzuki 800 transformed into a sophisticated electric vehicle by Hemank Dabhade of Northway Motorsport. This transformation job has been done after the successful conversions of the Chevrolet Beat and Honda Activa into electric vehicles.
Now there are a few conversions of the Maruti Suzuki 800 into electric vehicles in India but this one here is the most advanced one. Apart from the latest tech that has been used to convert this Maruti Suzuki 800 to an electric vehicle, the biggest highlight of this car is a Tesla-inspired screen that can be used to control the car and even choose the drive mode.

This Maruti Suzuki 800 EV gets a small infotainment system with customised software that has been put into it through Rasberry Pi. The customised screen can be used for various things including checking the level of the battery, remaining kilometres, current use by the car, motor temperature and controller temperature and most importantly, it is used to put the car into various drive modes like Drive, Reverse and Neutral. The custom display shows a graphic that is easy to understand and see the mode in which the car is currently in.
Another unique feature in this Maruti Suzuki 800 EV is its Hill Hold assistance and it works in both incline and decline. The ECU in this car is also custom made, which allows Hemank and his team it put in such features that are only available with selected high-end cars. The system allows us to keep the car stable on the incline or a decline, which makes the car stable and much safer to drive.
This is a 2 seater electric car with a hard flatbed cover that can be used to store various different things and even lie down. It can take a lot of weight. There are more batteries located in the engine bay of the car too. There are a total of 16 battery cells in this car that makes up for a total of 13.2 KW in a 48 V system. It can be charged through the regular charging circuit that takes about 4 to 4.5 hours to charge completely. The electric motor is a 19 KW and is controlled through a Curtis SE controller. It generates a maximum torque of 70 Nm but only a few seconds. The constant torque output is about 54 Nm. It gets a 7:1 stepdown transmission that ensures that the wheels get a massive 378 Nm of torque! The car can run for about 120 km on a single charge with a top speed of 80-85 km/h.
A unique feature in this car is the single-pedal operation. Since the stock brakes are non-vacuum type, no efforts were put in to increase the capability of the brakes. Instead, the programming is as such that the regenerative energy is much higher, which ensures that the car slows down drastically whenever the foot is lifted from the accelerator pedal. The stock brake system is still there. It also gets hill hold for uphill and downhill.
