Last generation Honda City selling at a MASSIVE discount of Rs. 1.6 lakh

Honda cars India launched the latest, fifth generation City sedan in the market last month. Unlike before, Honda did not discontinue the older fourth generation City when the new version was launched. The petrol version of the same fourth generation City was updated to meet BS6 emission norms and is still avialable in the market. Honda is now offering attractive offers on this older generation City sedan. The Honda City competes with cars like Maruti Ciaz, Hyundai Verna, Skoda Rapid in the segment. Honda is currently offering discounts of up to Rs 1.6 lakh on the fourth generation City sedan.

Currently, the previous generation Honda City is available in four trims: SV, V, VX and ZX. The VX and ZX are top-end trims and get higher discounts. The ZX trim gets benefits between Rs 1.3 lakh to Rs 1.6 lakh depending up on the gearbox option. The ZX trim with CVT gearbox gets cash discount of Rs 1.10 lakh whereas the manual version gets Rs 80,000 only. Exchange bonus worth Rs 50,000 is also available on these variant. The VX trim gets cash discount worth Rs 70,000 and the CVT version gets an additional exchange bonus of Rs 50,000. The SV and V trim of City gets a maximum discount of Rs 51,000 which includes cash discount and exchange bonus.

Honda plans to reduce the number of trims to two in the fourth generation City. Honda City will only be available in SV and V trims. The higher variants will be discontinued and the CVT gearbox option will also be taken away. This will make thing easier and will avoid overlap as both the models are currently on sale. This could be the reason behind higher discount on top-end trims.

Honda City has been a popular mid-size sedan in the country and has been present in the market for a very long time. The fourth generation was earlier available with a 1.5 litre i-VTEC petrol and 1.5 litre i-DTEC diesel engine. After the BS6 transition, only the petrol version of the sedan has been updated. The engine is a 1.5 litre naturally aspirated unit that generates 117 Bhp and 145 Nm of torque. This engine is known for its ultra refined power delivery and smoothness across the rev range. Honda is also offering discounts on other models like Amaze and Civic.
