Why I bought the Tata Harrier over MG Hector, Kia Seltos & Hyundai Creta: Owner explains [Video]

Tata Harrier was one of the most anticipated SUV from Indian manufacturer. It is based on the H5X concept that was showcased at the Auto Expo in 2018. Tata Motors launched the Harrier in early 2019 and the car as expected was a big hit. It competes with cars like MG Hector, Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta and Jeep Compass in the segment. They recently updated the Harrier to meet the BS6 emission norms and added couple of more features to the car. Here we have a video from a vlogger which explains why he chose Harrier instead of buying Hector, Seltos or Creta.

The video has been uploaded by Raghu Rallabandi on his Youtube channel. He bought a BS4 Tata Harrier earlier this year before the BS6 version was launched and the video is basically an explanation on why he went for Harrier. He starts by saying why did he not go for any of the competitors that are there in the market.

Starting with the Hector, he felt that it is a new brand in the country and was worried about the service network. He even says that in a city like Hyderabad, MG also has one service centre which was a bit discouraging. Apart from that, MG Hector felt a bit more like a premium SUV and he was looking for something that had an imposing look and road presence. He mentioned similar reasons for not choosing Kia Seltos.

 

Next was the 2020 Hyundai Creta which is one of the largest selling SUV in the segment. The vlogger personally did not like the design of all-new Creta and that is why he did not choose Creta. He was ready to compromise on the features that are offered in the competition. Jeep Compass according to him was a vehicle that is a class above all the other vehicles and also had a higher price tag.

He then explains, why he chose Harrier. In video he says that it was like love at first sight and the moment he saw Harrier, he wanted to take a test drive and once he had done that he realised that Harrier ticked all the boxes in his wish list. It looked imposing, had an SUV like drive and was also in his budget. As he has the BS4 version, it does not come with sunroof, electrically adjustable driver seat and other features and as mentioned above, he was ready to compromise on that bit.

Tata Harrier BS4 was also powered by a 2.0 litre turbocharged diesel engine that generates 140 PS and 350 Nm of torque mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. The BS6 version generates 30 PS more power and is available with an automatic transmission as well.
