2020 Suzuki Access 125 automatic scooter launched: Honda Activa rival gets Bluetooth

Suzuki Motorcycles India has just launched the all-new, 2020 Access 125 automatic scooter. Available in two variants, prices of the 2020 Suzuki Access 125 start from Rs. 77,700 ex-showroom Delhi. This price is for the variant with drum brake and alloy wheels. The variant with the front disc brake and alloy wheels is priced at Rs. 78,600, ex-showroom Delhi.

A key feature addition on the 2020 Suzuki Access 125 is Bluetooth connectivity for the fully digital instrument cluster, which allows the rider to use turn-by-turn navigation, call and SMS alert, WhatsApp alert, and missed call alert along with caller ID. Over-speed warning, phone battery level, and the estimated time of arrival are the other features available on the Access 125’s digital instrument cluster.

To access the full functionality of the Bluetooth feature, riders of the Access 125 need to download the Suzuki Connect App onto their Android smartphones. This app is not yet available for iPhone users. Other feature additions include LED position lights and two new colour options: Metallic Royal Bronze and Matte Blue. The Access 125 rivals the Honda Activa 125, TVS NTorq and Aprilia Storm SR125 among other 125cc scooters sold in India.

Commenting on the new launch, Mr Koichiro Hirao, Managing Director, Suzuki Motorcycle India, had this to say,

We are pleased to introduce the all-new Access 125 with Bluetooth- enabled digital console capable of getting paired with your mobile phones. The technology has been developed keeping the requirements of today’s young customer in mind, who always want to stay connected but doesn’t want to compromise on his/her safety by using a phone while riding a two-wheeler.

The 2020 Suzuki Access 125 automatic scooter is powered by a 125cc, four stroke engine that generates 8.6 Bhp of peak power and 10 Nm of peak torque. Fuel injection is standard with this engine, giving it Bharat Stage 6 (BS6) emission norms compliance. A CVT automatic gearbox transmits torque to the rear wheel. The scooter also gets the ‘combi-braking’ system as standard. The combi-braking system deploys both the front and rear brakes simultaneously even if the rider presses only the front/rear brake.

This feature greatly enhances safety reducing the chance of skidding, and by reducing stopping distances significantly. In India, it’s now mandatory for all two wheelers with engine capacity under 125cc to offer combi-braking as a standard safety feature. Another standard feature on the Access 125 is tubeless tyres, which is easy to fix in case of a puncture, and also much safer as the tyre does not blow out/lose pressure abruptly even in case of a puncture.
