Facelifted 2021 Toyota Fortuner in an on-road and off road test [Video]

Toyota launched the facelifted version of Fortuner in international markets. It was initially launched in Thailand and is now available in other markets too. Facelifted version of the Fortuner was spotted testing here in India and will soon be launched in our market. Fortuner has been a very popular SUV in India and around the world because of its reliability and off-road capabilities. It competes with cars like Ford Endeavour, Isuzu MU-X, Mahindra Alturas and recently launched MG Gloster in India. Here we have a video of the facelifted Toyota Fortuner that shows what all has changed in the SUV and how capable it is off the road.

The video shows what all has changed or improved in the facelifted Fortuner. the anchor starts by talking about the looks of the Fortuner facelift. The front has been slightly redesigned at the front to give it a much more aggressive look. The version seen in the video is a base GX variant which is the base trim. Even though it is the entry level model, it comes equipped with touchscreen infotainment screen, 4×4, automatic transmission and other features.

The anchor was happy with the interiors and then takes it out for a spin off the road. The ride of the Toyota Fortuner has always been stiff mainly because of the platform on which it is build. It is during slow speeds when the stiffness is actually felt. He does fair bit of off-roading and Fortuner faces all the challenges without breaking a sweat. As this was the lower variant, it did not come with hill descent control but, apart from that it had all the aids that are generally available in this range.

It is powered by a 2.8 litre turbocharged diesel engine that generates 201 Bhp of peak power and 450 Nm of peak torque. The anchor can be heard saying that the Fortuner has become bit more comfortable on the road and the power delivery is quite linear. Overall, he was impressed with all the changes or improvements done to the SUV and says that Toyota has once again managed to make customers happy by making minimum changes. The facelifted Fortuner is expected in India early next year. Toyota is also likely to sell the version with the TRD kit as the top-of-the-line variant.
