Lamborghini Huracan STO India launch on July 15

The Lamborghini Huracan STO is the next big launch from the Italian supercar maker in India. Essentially a road-homologated version of Lamborghini’s Huracan race cars, the STO or Super Trofeo Omologata is the most track-focused of all the Huracan models currently on sale.

Lamborghini Huracan STO: Whats different visually?

Compared to the rest of the Huracan range, the STO is the most track focused version of the lot. To that end it gets a number of upgrades in-line with the carmaker’s race bred Huracán Super Trofeo Evo and successful GT3 racing models aimed at not only imporving downforce but optimising engine cooling as well.

Racecar-derived styling cues include a one piece front fenders and bonnet section, vents in the bonnet, a new front splitter, NACA air-intakes, an airscoop and deflector design sitting atop the engine cover, an adjustable spoiler, magnesium wheels, a new rear diffuser as well as a redesigned underbody. In the interest of weight saving Lamborghini says 75 percent of the car’s body panels are made from carbon fibre.

The weight saving measures carry into the cabin as well with extensive use of carbon including carbon-backed sports seats, carbon door panels with lightweight door latches and even carbon-weaved floor mats in place of carpets.

Lamborghini claims that the Huracan STO is 43kg lighter than the now discontinued Huracan Performante and generates 53 percent more downforce.

Lamborghini Huracan STO: Engine and mechanicals

Starting with the engine, the Huracan STO is the most powerful road-going rear-wheel drive Huracan developing 30hp more than the RWD coupe and 15Nm more torque at 640hp and 565Nm. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. Lamborghini claims a 0-100kph time of 3.0 seconds – 0.3 seconds quicker than the RWD coupe.

Other mechanical upgrades include stiffer springs, wider track, new anti-roll bars, a more direct fixed ratio steering and carbon ceramic brakes. The Huracan STO also comes equipped with rear wheel steering.

Lamborghini in India

The STO will be the fifth Huracan Evo derivative to go on sale following the all-wheel drive and rear wheel drive Coupe and Spyder models. Aside from the Huracan, Lamborghini’s line-up for India also includes the Urus SUV and its flagship Aventador supercar.
