All-new Skoda Octavia: India launch details revealed

Skoda Octavia is without any doubt one of the best looking sedan in the premium sedan segment. It competes with cars like Toyota Corolla Altis, Honda Civic and Hyundai Elantra in the segment. Skoda was all set to launch the next-generation Octavia in the Indian market earlier this year but, due to the Corona virus pandemic that country is currently going through Skoda has decided to push the launch a bit further. The launch of the next-generation Skoda Octavia has been postponed and will be launching it now early in 2021.


The upcoming Octavia will be the fourth-generation model of the sedan in the country and will be different from the current version. The design is completely different and looks more premium and sharp than before. The headlight design has been redesigned with signature Skoda grille at the front. The bumper has also been redesigned and gets a chrome strip in the air dam area that wraps around the fog lamps.


On the side, the sharp character line give it a distinct identity and the multi spoke alloy wheels make it look more premium. Coming to the rear of the car, the boot of the car gets a new design. It looks more sportier than before and the bumper has also been revised. The all new LED tail lights give it a premium look too.

Dimension-wise the upcoming Skoda Octavia is longer and wider than the current version.  On the inside the upcoming Skoda Octavia will offer a host of features like digital instrument cluster, touchscreen infotainment screen, electric sunroof, trizone climate control and so on.


The next-gen Octavia will be manufactured in India and Skoda will also offer the vRS variant of the Octavia from the very first day of it’s launch. The vRS version is basically the sportier iteration of the regular Skoda Octavia. Earlier this year Skoda had launched Octavia vRS 245 at the Auto Expo. Only 200 units of that version will be sold in India as it is a CBU.


The upcoming Skoda Octavia will only be available with a petrol engine. The 2.0 litre turbo diesel engine which is available with the current generation is likely to be replaced with a 148 hp, 250 Nm, 1.5 litre turbo petrol and a 188 Bhp, 320 Nm 2.0 litre TSI engine. It will be paired with a DSG gearbox and the all-new Octavia is likely to be more expensive that the current version, which will soon go out of production.
