BS6 Tata Nexon AMT Compact SUV: ARAI fuel-economy revealed

Tata Motors had launched almost all their vehicles with a BS6 compliant engine, earlier this year. Cars like Tiago, Tigor and Nexon also received facelift along with a BS6 engine. Tata Nexon is one of the most popular compact SUV from the Indian manufacturer and is also one of the safest car with 5-star rating in Global NCAP crash test ratings. It competes with cars like Maruti Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV300, Ford EcoSport in the segment. Tata Motors has now revealed the certified fuel economy of the facelifted Tata Nexon AMT version.

Tata Nexon 1

Tata Nexon is the only compact SUV in the segment that offers an AMT gearbox in both petrol and diesel variants. The petrol version of the Tata Nexon is powered by a 1.2 litre turbocharged unit that generates 120 Bhp and 170 Nm of torque. The diesel version of the Nexon is powered by a 1.5 litre turbo diesel engine generating 110 Bhp and 260 Nm of peak torque. Both petrol and diesel variants are mated to a 6-speed AMT gearbox.

The petrol AMT version of Tata Nexon has an ARAI certified economy of 16 kmpl and the diesel AMT Nexon has a certified fuel economy of 22.4 kmpl.  The fuel economy of petrol AMT is lesser than the manual version by 1 kmpl and the diesel AMT return the same as that of the manual.

Tata Nexon 2

Maruti Brezza petrol automatic is the most fuel efficient compact SUV in the segment with 18.76 kmpl and the Ford EcoSport petrol automatic is the least fuel efficient and returns a fuel economy of 14.7 kmpl. Mahindra XUV300 AMT diesel returns a fuel economy of 20 kmpl which is less than the diesel Tata Nexon AMT.

Tata Nexon 3

Tata Motors had made number of changes to the BS6 version of Nexon. The headlight design has beenrevised and it now comes with projector type headlamps with LED DRLs. The grille has also been changed along with the bumper. There are tri-arrow inserts at various places on the car. The car gets a new set of alloys and the tail lights are also split LED type.

On the inside, it gets features like cruise control, electric sunroof, touchscreen infotainment system, fully digital instrument cluster and so on. Price for the BS6 Tata Nexon now start at Rs 6.95 lakh, ex-showroom for petrol and Rs 8.45 lakh, ex-showroom for diesel variants. The compact SUV is also available with an all-electric powertrain. The Nexon EV is one of the least priced electric SUVs sold in India, and comes with a practical range of over 200 kilometers per charge (Claimed range of 312 Kms).
