Tata Altroz gets a discount for the first time

  • Offer can be availed via Tata’s ‘Click to Drive’ online sales platform and select dealerships

  • Discount valid on the petrol and diesel Altroz.

Tata Motors entered the premium hatchback segment with the launch of the Altroz, earlier this year. Priced from Rs 5.29 lakh, the Altroz is available with two engine options and in five trim levels.

For this month, the premium hatchback can be had with a discount of up to Rs 45,000, which is applicable for both, petrol and diesel versions. The offer can be availed through the manufacturer’s ‘Click to Drive’ digital sales platform or via select dealerships that have opened, following the relaxation of the lockdown restrictions.

The Altroz is powered by BS6-compliant petrol and diesel engines. The petrol is a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder, naturally aspirated unit that puts out 86hp and 113Nm of torque while the diesel is a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder turbo-diesel unit that produces 90hp and 200Nm of torque. Both engines come paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard. The Altroz petrol’s fuel economy is rated at 19.05kpl by ARAI while the diesel does 25.11kpl.

In terms of rivals, the Altroz competes with other premium hatches such as the Hyundai i20, Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Toyota Glanza and Honda Jazz. Following the implementation of the BS6 emission norms, the i20 became a petrol-only model as Hyundai decided to axe the 1.4-litre diesel engine from its line-up. Honda, meanwhile, is in the process of upgrading the Jazz to meet the stringent emission standards, while the petrol-only Baleno and Glanza have already been BS6-compliant for a while.
