2020 Hyundai Elantra BS6 Diesel sedan launched in India

A few days ago, Hyundai announced new trim levels of the Elantra in India and discontinued the entry-level base version of the premium sedan. The Elantra was only available with a petrol engine in the market after the BS6 emission norms were put in place. The South Korean manufacturer has now launched the diesel BS6 compliant Elantra.

The new Elantra ditches the old 1.6-litre diesel engine that was available with the BS4 compliant model. It now comes powered by the 1.5-litre engine that also powers the Hyundai Creta. The diesel variants of the Elantra will be available with a 6-speed manual transmission option and 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.

The Hyundai Elantra is now available in five variants – 3 with petrol engine options and two with the diesel engine option. The base price of the diesel Elantra is Rs 18.7 lakhs while the top-end version is priced at Rs 20.65 lakhs. The entry-level Elantra diesel get a manual transmission and is only available with the SX variant while the top-end version gets an automatic transmission and is available in the fully-loaded SX(O) variant.

The 1.5-litre diesel engine produces a maximum power of 115 PS at 4,000 rpm and a peak torque of 250 Nm. There are no changes in the terms of features or looks. To start with, the Hyundai Elantra gets modern design elements with a sharp-looking front-end. It offers a slew of first-in-segment features like Hyundai BlueLink, Wireless phone charger, Dynamic LED projector headlamps, LED DRLs, ventilated front-seat and more. The Hyundai Elantra takes on the Honda Civic head-on in the Indian market.

The manufacturer also delivers the car to your home and you can become a car owner without visiting the showroom. The Elantra offers 3 years or 30,000 km complimentary maintenance, 3 years roadside package, 3-year BlueLink service subscription and more. The car also offers flexible warranty option that the customers can choose according to their usage.
