Ford Confirms Hyundai Creta rival for India: Details

American car manufacturer Ford has been present in Indian market for quite some time. Recently they got into an agreement where they will be jointly working with Indian UV manufacturer Mahindra & Mahindra. Mahindra is currently working on next-gen XUV500 and they will also be launching a Ford’s version based on the same platform later. Now reports are coming that Ford is planning to launch an SUV to rival with the likes of Hyundai Creta in the segment.

According to IAB, Ford is working on a new premium SUV which is codenamed as B745. This upcoming SUV is developed for India with Mahindra. Recently in a meeting CEO & MD, Mahindra & Mahindra, Dr. Pawan Goenka mentioned about the engine details of the upcoming Ford SUV. According the reports, Ford’s B745 SUV will be using Mahindra’s recently developed 1.5 litre turbocharged petrol engine. The engine belongs to mStallion series which was showcased at the Auto Expo earlier this year.

The new mStallion series engine has been added to the Ssangyong Tivoli facelift. The newly developed 1.5 litre turbocharged petrol engine generates 163 Ps and 280 Nm of peak torque. The new petrol engine is available with both  6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic gearbox options. Mahindra and Ford are now in a JV and the upcoming B745 SUV will be jointly developed by both manufacturers.

A Mahindra version of the same is also being developed and it is known by the name Mahindra S204. It is likely to be priced above XUV300 and below the nex-generation XUV500 which will be launched in the market next year. The lockdown and the ongoing Corona virus pandemic situation has definitely delayed some of the process and things will be back on track one the situation starts to improve.

Ford will also be launching an SUV W605 based on the next gen XUV500. Ford is also working on a new generation EcoSport and the pictures of the same already surfaced online. It is likely to hit the Brazilian market initially and then to the rest of the world. The design of the upcoming EcoSport is entirely different from the current gen and looks more like a cross hatchback than an SUV.
