Rapido resumes services across 100 cities in India

  • 3 lakh rider partners were affected because of the lockdown
  • All riders to use Arogya Setu App
  • Vehicles to be sanitised on a regular basis

Rapido, the app-based bike-taxi service provider, has announced the resumption of services across 100 cities in India. In a press statement, the company said that the bike-taxis will be available in Green and Orange zones only, and strict COVID-19 safety protocols will be followed. This announcement comes after the Central Government's decision to resume economic activity as per the Unlock 1.0 strategy.

Rapido says that its Captains (rider partners) have been given a set of guidelines to adhere to. This includes wearing a mask, sanitising the two-wheeler at regular intervals, and carrying a hairnet and a spare helmet for the passenger. The Captains will also have to use the Arogya Setu app when they are on duty. In addition to this, Rapido has also updated its app to help Captains steer clear of Red zones or containment zones on their route. Passengers are also advised to wear a mask at all times and carry a hand sanitiser with them.

The company adds that resuming services was crucial for the survival of its 3 lakh Captains, many of whom are dependent on the service as their sole source of income.

Rapido suggests that its bike-taxi service is a great last-mile travel solution as opposed to crowded public buses, thus serving as a safer way to travel.
