Uber launches hourly rentals in 17 Indian cities

  • Uber's new service is available in Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Kolkata and 13 other cities.
  • There are a number of packages available, the cheapest costs Rs 189 for a one-hour/10km ride.
  • A cab can be hired for a maximum duration of 12 hours.

Uber has just introduced a new hourly rental service in 17 cities across India, which include Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kolkata, and Chennai, to name a few.

What is this hourly cab rental service?

In essence, this service allows the customer to hire a cab on an hourly basis, allowing them to make multiple stops within the set time period without changing cabs. This makes it convenient when the customer needs to visit a number of places.

Available in multiple packages, the most affordable option is priced at Rs 189 for a one-hour/10km ride. Also, do note, a customer can book a cab for a maximum of 12 hours.

How to use hourly rentals on Uber?

Provided your Uber app is updated and the service is available in your city, the process to book this service is quite straightforward. All you have to do is go to the Hourly Rentals tab in the app, select a package from 1 hour to 12 hours and book your ride. Once the ride begins, the cab will be at your disposal for the time period selected, and you can add and remove destinations as per your requirement.

What about safety measures?

The mandatory mask policy is still in place, for both the driver and the passenger. Uber has also updated its cancellation criteria, giving the driver and passenger the freedom to cancel the trip if they feel their safety is in question.
