Watch the MG Hector’s voice command system at work [Video]

MG Motor made their debut in our market almost an year ago with the Hector, and the response from the customers has been immense. It was so overwhelming that MG actually had to stop taking bookings as they were not able to meet the demand. The Hector had long waiting periods and people loved the car because of the premium looks, the space on offer and of course the features it offered. This mid-size SUV competes with the likes of Tata Harrier, Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta in the mid-size SUV segment. MG also updated the Hector SUV to meet the new BS6 emission norms. Both the petrol and diesel trims are now BS6 compliant.

Here we have a video that focuses on one of the main features in MG Hector: voice commands. The video shows how exactly this feature works. The video starts by showing Benedict Cumberbatch, who is the MG Motor India’s brand ambassador, walking towards the car and getting in. As soon as he is in the car, the smart infotainment system in the Hector welcomes him.

Later in the video, Benedict Cumberbatch can be seen operating the AC and the panoramic sunroof using voice commands. The voice command feature is actually pretty good and actually helps the driver keep his eye on the road while driving rather than looking for controls on the dashboard. User can also do many other things like roll down windows, select track, adjust temperature and so on. The iSmart connected car feature in Hector helps with navigation and provides live traffic info, real-time car health monitoring with remote diagnosis and so on. MG Hector was the first car in the country get such features.

The MG Hector is available with both petrol and diesel engine options, and the petrol version is available with a DCT automatic gearbox option (non-hybrid version). The petrol version of Hector is powered by a 1.5 litre turbocharged unit that generates 140 bhp and 250 Nm of torque. The diesel version of the car is powered by a 2.0 litre turbo diesel engine generating 170 Bhp and 350 Nm of peak torque. Both the engines are now BS6 complaint. Prices have gone up by Rs 25,000 for petrol version and it now starts at Rs 12.73 lakh, ex-showroom, and the diesel version has seen a hike between Rs 40,000 to Rs 45,000 depending upon the variant. The prices for diesel BS6 Hector now start from Rs 13.88 lakh, ex-showroom.
